Gone are the carefree days of summer. School is officially back in session! Simple habits like creating a daily routine, prioritizing healthy eating and supporting their mental wellbeing can help your child succeed this school year.
How do you begin the process of designing or refining your own gardens, especially when there are so many things that you need to take into consideration? In this class, award-winning UK garden designer Annie Guilfoyle will guide you through the elements that make for a successful design and show you how to develop a garden that really suits your taste and lifestyle. This webinar will focus on how to use sketching and observation as tools to develop your technique. The process of designing your space should be fun, according to Annie, so she’ll share insights for how to develop your style using the influences of things you really like, such as textiles, art, and architecture. There will be plenty of suggestions on how to start your design process and gather inspiration—and, of course, we will touch on those oh-so-important plants.

There’s a lot to think about when you prepare to move into your dorm. Whether it’s your very first time living in a dorm or you’re a seasoned pro, making the most of a small, possibly shared space is a feat.

Meet Addison Sapp, also known as DesignsByAdds: a biology major with a serious passion for dorm design, who transformed her Wofford College dorm room into an adorable space inspired by her South Carolina surroundings and the French Riviera, drenched in bright blue hues.
Summertime means shopping time if you’ve got a kid heading to college in the fall. Whether they’re moving into the dorm or an off-campus apartment, a stylish, comfortable bedroom offers the home-away-from-home they crave. Designing a space where students can study, sleep, and hang out with friends might be a tall order given the not-so-aesthetic design of traditional campus residence halls. But with some creativity and savvy shopping, it’s possible to help your student create the dorm room of their dreams without a price tag to rival the tuition bill.
Nothing motivates a study session like coming home to a space that comforts and inspires you, and truthfully, an empty concrete wall in a dorm room is not going to do that.

While there’s a lot to look forward to when it comes to dorm living, the size, layout, and space available are probably not high on the list.
While college is a major change for students, it’s also a big transition for parents. Parenting from afar can be overwhelming and confusing, but one of the best ways to tackle this is to get prepared and plan ahead.
Moving is stressful. But moving into a cramped dorm room you’ll be sharing with a roommate for studying, sleeping, hanging out, and eating ramen noodles is next-level hectic. Not only do you have to quickly unload a carload’s worth of stuff to get you through the semester so someone else can take your parking spot, but you’ll likely have to deal with weepy family members while at it.

Ah, what can ail thee, wretched wight, Alone and palely loitering, The sedge is wither’d from the lake, And no birds sing. John Keats You could be forgiven for thinking that today’s vase was a bit of a cop-out, that I had spent next to no time preparing it, but you would be wrong. It took several circuits and a fair degree of thought to come up with the vase and its associated prop. It may only be a single stem in a vase, but I am more than satisfied with the combination and the title and prop.
“Connecting with nature.” “Trying something different.” “An appreciation of history.” Ask a new generation of gardeners just why they want to embark on a course in horticulture at a country house estate and those are the kinds of answers they will give you.
