I have a collection of heirloom German flag iris from my mother’s garden along with shared plants from aunts and good friends. The cultivar names are unknown, but the memories of the people who shared them with me abound every time I see the irises bloom.

Sasanqua and camellia hybrids are beautiful fall flowering, evergreen shrubs.
The “Jurassic Garden” at the South Carolina Botanical Garden represents plant groups that trace their lineage back to at least the late Jurassic/early Cretaceous — a place where you can see dinosaur tracks, fossil casts, and the plants.
The Ilex (Holly) genus has about 400+ species of evergreen and deciduous plants. Hollies are a great addition to a pollinator garden for bees and other pollinating insects. Birds love the berries.
