When walking through your door, there’s no sighing in relief if you’re tripping over a pyramid of boots, backpacks, and stinky sports equipment.
Getting items off the floor (in your entryway, kitchen, or elsewhere) is one trick Morgan Ovens, owner of Haven Home, employs to create neater-feeling spaces.
Hooks, whether wall-mounted or adhesive, are easy to install and can assign homes for items like coats, oven mitts, and keys.
“Hooks are a game changer when it comes to creating a designated spot for things you otherwise don’t know what to do with,” Ovens says. “All you need is a little wall space.”
Clean rags have a home, but what about the ones that sop up kitchen spills? Fresh, dry-clean-only items hang in your closet, but what about the pieces that are due for a visit to the cleaners?
Dirty items need a designated home just as much as clean ones do. Ovens recommends putting hampers to work.
Not just any hamper, though—Ovens says to invest in one with at least three dividers, which is best for keeping things organized.
