Every color tells a story, and Sherwin-Williams has a long history of helping to tell that tale—all while making it a lot easier to mix and match trending colors without sacrificing your unique style. To that end, Sherwin-Williams has just dropped its 2025 Colormix Forecast, which predicts broad color trends for the year ahead.
Not to be confused with a color of the year pick, this annual Colormix Forecast from Sherwin-Williams points to the elements that shape color trends, making use of the brand’s Trendsight Team to make data-driven predictions for what hues we’ll be seeing more of in the next year. Last year’s Colormix Forecast, Anthology: Volume One, focused on color families; for the 2025 Colormix Forecast, the Sherwin-Williams team has organized colors into four capsules: Chrysalis, Paradox, Wellspring, and Kindred.
The four groupings that make up the Sherwin-Williams 2025 Colormix Forecast: Capsules each include 12 colors, for 48 curated colors total. While each capsule has its own look and feel, all together, these colors convey a bright energy with plenty of nuance. While some capsules and colors lean loud and playful, others are more subtle and quiet—but never subdued or dull. A certain boldness is present in all four capsules, which points to a positive, confident approach to color overall in 2025, something all color fans are sure to look forward to. Read on for a full breakdown of the Forecast.

The first capsule, Chrysalis, was created to “capture the essence of peaceful, intentional living and transformative future thinking in a sanctuary of colors inspired by wood tones, sifting sands, and freshly turned earth,” according to Sherwin-Williams. Its 12 colors include Mexican

Sweet william (Dianthus barbatus) is a short-lived hardy perennial, loved for its showy display of colourful summer flowers. The foliage forms low rosettes of non-spreading mid-green or bronze-green leaves. Large flower clusters are borne on sturdy stems up to 60cm high, made up of many individual florets with a surrounding ‘ruff’ of green foliage. Flower colours come in shades of pink, purple, red, dark maroon, and white, and blooms are often bicoloured, too. Sweet william is hardy, easy to grow from seed, and makes an excellent cut flower.
