Everything you need to know for a stock tank pool DIY project!Today I’m walking you through the install of our Stock Tank Pool DIY project! I’m sharing the products we used, the steps we took to DIY the entire project, and the cost of the project!
step 1: find a stock tank pool
Originally, I tried to do this project last year after everything closed during the pandemic (including our country club pool.) Problem was, I could not find a stock tank pool anywhere! This year I made sure to locate one early! As I’m writing this (in the middle of June,) our local farm supply store still has 10 in stock! Maybe they learned from last year!
We bought the Behlen Country 8 foot stock tank pool from our local farm supply store, and had my father-in-law transport it to us in his truck. Once it was here, my husband and I easily lifted it off the truck and rolled it to our backyard. Step 1 done!
step 2: prepare the ground for the stock tank pool
We placed our stock tank pool on our grass, so we had to prepare the area for it. If you are placing yours on a level concrete slab, you obviously won’t need to do the steps related to leveling out the ground. This was by far the most labor-intensive and time consuming part.
My husband started by removing the grass. As you can see from the photos above, he marked out the area with spray paint, taking into consideration the pavers we were planning to place around the pool. He then removed all of the grass. This took him a couple of hours.
step 3: start to level the ground
At this point we thought it would be smart to level the dirt area in preparation for the sand. It will get leveled more later, but my husband wanted to start with the dirt fairly level. So, he used a PVC pipe and level to do so, shown

After we refurbished our backyard swimming pool, I was trying to figure out how to hide the pool motors. We had added a Sun Shade Sail Canopy last year to protect the equipment from the Hot Galveston Island Sun.
Hi all! I made a stool from leftover wood and fabric I had. I am not sharing how I built the stool because it is no big deal: 4 legs, a seat and some cross bars. What I want to show you, is how it went from very ordinary to pretty nice and luxurious, well… for a deck!

The coolest way to light up your front porch is with a pool noodle!
If the swimming pool was a living organism, the pool pump would be its heart. A pool pump needs to function properly for the water in the swimming pool to remain clean and safe.
If you are reading this article, you are probably facing one of the two scenarios: You closed your above ground pool for the winter season and now that the weather is getting warmer, you are ready to go swimming again. The thing is, you have never had to open the pool after closing it in the winter before. The second case is that you have a new pool, but you do not have the experience to open the above ground pool yourself.
Taking a dive in an above-ground pool is the perfect way to cool off when the temperature takes a spike. An above-ground swimming pool is a go-to choice for families who want to take advantage of those summer months. The beauty of these pools is that they come in a huge variety of sizes and colors to fit any backyard layout, making it easy for you to find one that suits your needs.
We tackled a project last summer that I was loathe to do, but after years of praying to the Yard Crasher gods to no avail, we plunged into the pool patio project. Our inground pool is surrounded by a paver patio that pre-project resembled an animal pen. By that, I mean the metal fence that runs the perimeter was very, very close, allowing just enough space for two people to pass but certainly not to comfortably seat anyone. I don’t know how it is that I cannot locate a photo of the before, to illustrate how tight it was. However, here is a photo taken afterward, where the measuring tape denotes the end of the former pool patio. Tight, right?
If you want to add to the look of your aquarium, then you can grow greens in it. Have a look at some really nice looking Fish Tank with Plants Ideas and get inspired!
FYI: The cost depends on how many planters you’d like. When we did this project, the planters were $20, posts were $15, bag of concrete $4 (about 2 planters worth), bag of rock $3/bag, planter hangers $8. The lights were $50 off Amazon and we used 2 for the entire patio. We had the scrap wood for the forms, the stain, and potting soil. Then you decide the type and therefore the cost of your flowers.
I've been wanting a stock tank pool, or as we call them, a redneck swimming pool for at least 3 years now. I'm not going to lie, the stock tanks are expensive! We happened across a bargain and got both of the tanks and all the flag stone for $75 total! Bargain of a lifetime right there!
