I’m always being asked for ideas for breaking up the space in a shallow wide garden, and also how to make it look longer.

I was given this old shoe rack and never one to miss an upcycle opportunity I decided to make it into a unit for my tea pot planters on my sunny sheltered outside veranda.
I am beginning to experiment with Unicorn spit gel & stain as a colourful tie dye effect on the wood.
I choose yellow orange and black.
I begin with wiping down the rack to clean it.
Spraying with water to prepare surface for Unicorn Spit Stain & Gel
I start from bottom shelf upwards using various squirty movements to spread colour onto wood in swirls.
I cover the paint with another spray of cool water and then place a partly see through sheet/ waste plastic bag over the top of where I have put all the paint.
I gently spread the paint from centre outwards in stroking manner to cover all the wood from on top of the bag. I keep doing this until I’m happy it’s covered well then I lift the plastic sheet off gently from left to right in a non stop action and then discard.
When the design is revealed and I can see where I need to cover the gaps and tidy up design with more unicorn spit I use a a sponge applicator.
Repeating the process remembering to spray water over paint before laying plastic sheet over top and spreading the design.
And build up the design with random patches that look like bright swirly tie and dye!
The final part is painting in the gaps and tidying up ready to leave to dry for few hours.
Hey presto the final piece looks so unique and vibrant.

If you follow my blog you will know I have two new Jack Russell terrors, and yes I mean terrors, not terriers. They are the most destructive dogs I have ever had but we love them anyway. This repurposed futon was the result of another one of their destructive moments.

Find an old chandelier in your nearby thrift store. Make sure that the design of the chandelier is such that it can hold feeding cups.
So this past fall I decided to try to turn an everyday item into a flower pot. I choose my wire basket because it screams of summer and fall to me. Instead of carrying my garden vegetables it now held my mums!
Hummingbirds are so pretty and fun to watch. This is a wonderful way to reuse and upcycle empty wine bottles. The hummingbird feeders look beautiful and attract hummingbirds to your yard.
It is always best to grow some veggies in your container garden instead of depending on the supplements that we buy from the counter to give a boost to our immune system. Follow our guide to know everything about How to Grow a Vitamin C Vegetable Garden in Containers.
Summer is near, and everything seems to be growing so abundantly that overnight, the garden changes and looks lusher and fuller. Summer brings many great things to a garden. But summer can also bring some challenges.
What makes the ideal edible garden in containers? It’s different for each of us, of course, and usually takes trial and error to discover. One good way to evolve a container garden isto try a few different plants in your container garden each year. This will help you discover what you love to grow most. Trying new things and experimenting is also good for learning and, in my experience, all part of the fun.
