Costco Sneakily Shrunk Its Iconic Jumbo Muffins

There are so many things to love about Costco, from the $5 rotisserie chickens to the incomparable deals to the food court hacks. So when any change occurs at the retailer, it's natural to wonder: Why ruin a good thing? One staple item seems to have gone through a suspicious alteration and fans are not having it.

If you're a member, you know Costco sells jumbo muffins. They're giant, and they've upheld a reputation for their size for years. But that's come to an end—the muffins have shrunk and now come in packs of eight instead of the former six pack. Plus, customers used to have to buy two packs of the massive muffins, but now you only have to buy one, which has some elated.

Costco made the switch to small because, according to AOL, shoppers have complained that they were previously too difficult to finish before they went bad.

Some responses express disappointment that the jumbo muffins are a thing of the past. One user on Reddit complained that the new muffins are «literally half the size of the old ones.» But others seem to appreciate the smaller size and the potential for less waste.

There doesn't seem to be a noticeable change in the flavor or the ingredients, and the double chocolate muffin, blueberry muffin, and pumpkin streusel are all still available.
