We spoke with a handful of interior designers and asked them to chime in on the items that many mistakenly view as essentials. The following six items can actually be sourced for less or entirely eliminated if you're designing or redoing a bedroom.

You may think that top-of-the-line sheets are key to an amazing night's sleep, but you'll want to consider your day-to-day lifestyle before spending too much on linens that will be going in and out of the wash frequently.
To that end, Andrea Sinkin, the founder of Andrea Sinkin Design, is happy not splurging on sheets for practical reasons.
Sinkin explains how their sheets get washed about three times a week since they have kids and dogs in their bed every night. She personally loves the affordable set from Costco instead.
«High-quality sheets don’t mean they are indestructible,» Sinkin adds. «Nothing is!»
While aesthetically pleasing, throw pillows shouldn't cost a fortune, notes Sarah Barnard, the founder of Sarah Barnard Design.
«They are rarely worth the investment for something that may often get minimally used or tossed on the floor during sleep,» she says.
Barnard suggests allocating funds toward a bedding set with decorative pillow shams instead, which, she says have the same charm as throw pillows with a greater practical reward.
