Pinterest is back with big news this week—they've released their annual Pinterest Predicts report for 2024. The report details all the trendiest search terms that are likely to make a big splash next year so you can be first in line for a mini life makeover.
We’ve got our eye on the home decor section of the report, and here are the trends Pinterest thinks will be huge next year.
This cleverly-named eclectic kitchen trend has home chefs searching for retro kitchen appliances to add a little extra style to their space. The essentials of 2024 will likely include bold and bright paint colors paired with vintage kitchen items. Pinterest agrees that if you’re currently scouring the thrift store aisles, looking for the boldest floral-patterned china plates, you’re already ahead of the trend.
Vintage display cabinets, colorful pastel appliances, and maximalist kitchen accessories are just a few of the aesthetic examples cropping up under this trend. It’s probably no surprise that “retro pink kitchens” are already a major search term according to Pinterest—we’re thinking the Barbie movie and Paris Hilton’s new cookware line probably had something to do with it.
Green is another major trending color for the kitchen; light and neutral tones (think sage) are most popular right now. “Eccentric,” “eclectic,” and “kitschy” are all name-of-the-game search terms Pinterest is seeing crop up under this design idea.
The rise of the Western Gothic aesthetic ushers in a new home decor trend that focuses on blending Western elements with—you guessed it—gothic color palettes and accents. Lovers of moody ranch decor, dark paint colors, and even well-placed decorative skulls can unite over this cowboy-meets-goth design style. Pinterest

We've enjoyed an exciting season of Color of the Year announcements, from Behr's deep black-gray choice to Pantone's peachy pick to half a dozen brands in between.
The Haw River cuts through North Carolina’s Piedmont region from its source in Forsyth County. Below Jordan Lake, it joins the Deep River to form the Cape Fear River, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean near the southernmost tip of the state.
Are you busy propagating plants or trying to make your plant-cutting arrangements last a little longer? Plant cuttings involve taking a leafy plant—think pothos or philodendrons—and cutting it below a section of leaf, where you might already be seeing small aerial roots forming.
As we look toward 2024 together, we're wondering what will be in store for the interior design world. While it’s impossible to predict the future, keeping a keen eye on trends is all part of the job for interior designers and home decor experts.

If you’re wondering about the flower and plant trends of the next year, 1-800-Flowers is one step ahead of you. The brand announced its 2024 Flower and Plant of the Year: the peony and the philodendron, respectively.
Last week Kathy Sandel shared her former garden in Calabasas, California, and today we’re back visiting her current garden in Sacramento:
With their glossy leaves and festive red berries, skimmia are made for Christmas. What’s more, these compact evergreen shrubs are a super choice for small gardens, and they grow well in containers for courtyard or balcony gardeners. If you yearn to gather your own greenery for Christmas decorations, but don’t have room for a holly, a couple of choice skimmias could be just the thing – and because they’re prickle free, making those decorations will be far less painful!
Planning a major home building or renovation project can often lead to decision overwhelm, but one great way to narrow down your choices is by taking a look at what’s trending.
