I have this little tiny balcony that had water damage on the walls and just overall dinginess, and I was looking for low cost ways to make it a nice place to sit and read. I had no experience with tiling before and I'm really happy with the result!

I snagged this playhouse on marketplace for $20. Even though it was extremely dirty, covered in spider webs/nests, and bee hives, my daughter was already in love with it. She had no idea what was about to happen.
I started by cleaning the house. The easiest and quickest way to do this was with the pressure washer.
Once it was cleaned up, I put it together to see what pieces were missing and what pieces I'd need to order or replace. (I ended up needing to buy the skylight for the roof, it didn't come with the house, and I ordered a doorbell, even though ours didn't have a hole for it.)
Then I disassembled the house and flipped it over so I could add extra drain holes to the bottom of the pieces. I used a large drill bit and started drilling away. There was so much dirty water trapped inside of the house and doing this also made it a lot lighter to move around.
Next I removed all the little accessories that would come apart. The kitchen came out and I dissembled it, I had my husband remove the door, and I removed the door knob. This made it easier to paint all these little individual pieces.
I painted this entire piece black, then used paper to «tape off» the rest of it so I could paint the knobs gold.
For this piece, I removed the faucet and painted the entire thing white, then went back in with black acrylic paint and painted the burners on by hand.
Then it was time to paint. I spray painted the roof grey on the exterior, and black on the interior and reassembled the house. I thought it would be easier to paint it while it was assembled, but I was wrong. I didn't prime it either and that might have made the process a lot easier. It took 3-4 coats of paint to completely cover the house with the art minds paint.

I found a couple of old plastic spring rocking horses in a free junk pile. I decided to give the first one a new identity as a unicorn. The 2nd one is still deciding what to be......
This June, some of our J. Parker’s team helped to put the finishing touches to the patient garden at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno, North Wales. We donated a new gazebo, planters, compost and hundreds of bedding plants to help finish off the garden which the St David’s team have lovingly built so that the patients at the hospice can enjoy an outside space full of colourful flowers.

Another project I had on my Spring to-do list was to give my playhouse a makeover. It was starting to get a little faded looking but it's still in great shape...and I'm not going to lie, I was sick of the red and beige paint!
One day I was browsing Pinterest and came across playhouse makeover ideas. After seeing the inspiration I decided I just had to do my own makeover for my daughter’s birthday gift while she is still little. So I immediately browsed second-hand sites and found the perfect plastic playhouse for £25. We got it home, I cleaned it up and painted it and I am so in love with the transformation!
Chuck and I bought our first house together in April 2014 and it has been one project after another...and yea we love it:) The deck looked OK at first, then the cheap red stain the seller had put on started coming off, a year later this is what it looked like — it was so ugly we had to do something. So Memorial Day weekend we power washed it for what seemed like hours and hours and did a full deck makeover.
We tackled a project last summer that I was loathe to do, but after years of praying to the Yard Crasher gods to no avail, we plunged into the pool patio project. Our inground pool is surrounded by a paver patio that pre-project resembled an animal pen. By that, I mean the metal fence that runs the perimeter was very, very close, allowing just enough space for two people to pass but certainly not to comfortably seat anyone. I don’t know how it is that I cannot locate a photo of the before, to illustrate how tight it was. However, here is a photo taken afterward, where the measuring tape denotes the end of the former pool patio. Tight, right?
Often, household items past their prime end up in landfills and trash bins. This doesn’t have to be the case! I had a very old faded sun umbrella that was headed for the trash. While it was quite old, it was still in great shape, so I decided to spruce it up a bit for the summer! With a bit of paint, I was able to not only save this umbrella from the trash, I was also able to take it to the next level and brighten up my garden. Even better, this project only takes a bit of time and money to complete. Want to see how I did it? Follow my step-by-step tutorial below!
I just love the design of these little Vintage Mid Century coffee tables with their sleek dansette legs and so when I see them in junk shops or jumble sales I just have to rescue them!

Like millions of Indian city-dwellers, my apartment comes with a teeny-tiny balcony. For most people, this small space tends to be forgotten, only used on rare occasions. However, I'm a firm believer that every single inch of someone's home has the potential to be put to good use. No matter where you live in the world, it's likely that you also have a balcony that you think is too small to be a meaningful addition to your living space. However, this is not the case.
