I hated my dingy deck. It was so old and worn. But I didn't want to spend $1,000 on a deck makeover. So I came up with an awesome idea with the help of Wagner. Here’s how to spray stain a deck quickly, easily, and on a budget.
We started by removing all the furniture and cleaning off the deck. We even used a specialized cleaner that will help the deck be prepped for staining.
After the deck was clean and dry, I got right to staining using my Wagner Control Pro 130, great for large home improvement painting projects like this deck. It took me longer to choose a color stain than it did to actually stain the deck. The color I went with is Sunlit Copper from Valspar.
The Wagner Control Pro 130 also uses high-efficiency airless technology, so it produces 55% less overspray compared to other airless sprayers.
Cleanup was super simple. This made me think of all the other projects I could use the sprayer for, like maybe Eli's Treehouse.
But first, I'll be using it on my banisters. I didn't have to prep the space at all, besides cleaning it off really well. Then it was time to paint. I chose Iron Ore for a sleek, modern look.
The hopper holds one and a half gallons of paint right in the tank so I don't have to stop and refill. This totally helped me get the entire deck makeover done in just one weekend.
Now that the deck has a fresh coat of paint and stain, it's time to complete this outdoor oasis by adding back our furniture and a few other essentials.
I absolutely love how our back deck turned out. The stain and paint brought life back to the space.
The Wagner Control Pro 130 made it so I didn't have to hire a contractor, saving me a ton of money on this makeover. I hope this inspired

As gardeners, it is easy to lose sight of exactly how much we have achieved over the years—and also so easy to focus on the things that go wrong rather than looking at the many things that go right.

Do you know what the number one question was we were asked this summer? How to get rid of roaches! One of our popular posts is our homemade ant spray, so readers want to know about other insects too. Especially roaches!
I've always wanted to have a pair of tall planters for my front porch but I couldn't justify the cost, given I have no budget for such non-essentials. Costco has a pair for $159 and Wayfair sells them for $70.99 each. Then it occurred to me that the side table project I did last year, could just as easily serve as a template for planters, too! So, off to the dollar store I went.

Organic pest control is a term referred to the way of controlling pests in a bio-organic and natural manner; this means that you will remove any pests from your garden without using any chemical pesticides or commercial non-organic pest control products. Plants have special super powers: the benefits of living with plants at home in general, and in bedrooms in particular, are countless. They make a room look more alive, and your bedside table brighter. Taking care of your plants can also help you wind down after a busy day. Studies have even shown that by simply touching the leaf of a plant for two minutes, you reduce your stress levels! For a healthy bedroom regime, don’t rely on plants alone, however: Good ventilation, fresh bed linens, a comfortable mattress, good pillows, and an extra blanket, if needed, help you sleep better and improve your overall well-being. But not all bedrooms are bright enough to grow healthy plants: maybe there is only one small window or you don’t have a window sill, or maybe you don’t like taking care of even more plants. If that’s the case, or if you don’t want to wake up surrounded by plants (really: who are you?), you may want to rely on some help for healthy fresh air in the bedroom. And that’s where Briiv comes to the rescue! Briiv is an air filter that uses plant power to purify the air. Briiv is as powerful as 3,043 medium size houseplants. So you can enjoy the benefits of having plants in your home without the hassle.
Claire, our local interior designer, recently borrowed a few bits and pieces from me for her latest window and I’ve just seen the result – it looks like the best potting shed ever. I had to photograph through glass and avoid reflections, so please forgive me if the results are slightly blurry, but its worth looking at.
