Hilary Duff certainly knows how to tell a story. The actress, author, producer, and mom (among other roles) has made a career out of it, in fact, and in her new position as chief brand director of new fragrance brand Below 60°, she’s doing it through scents.
“I’ve always been interested in fragrance,” Duff tells Better Homes & Gardens. “I’ve always been obsessed with scents and burning specific candles in my home, and my fragrance journey through life is always evolving.”
Below 60°, which launched in November 2023 with its flagship product line of 100% natural air fragrance devices, gives home fragrance a modern spin by meshing on-trend (and playful!) scents with a streamlined, unobtrusive plug-in diffuser.
“We cared about how it smelled, but we cared mostly about how it looked, that it was a clean-looking product that would be acceptable in everyone’s home,” Duff says.
The mission of Below 60° is to explore evoking experiences, memories, and emotions via our sense of smell, and the company uses 100% natural fragrances derived from essential oils—its very name is inspired by the air below the 60th parallel, said to be the most pristine air on Earth. But that doesn’t mean anyone, Duff included, has to pick between a classic candle and a natural fragrance diffuser like Below 60°’s.
“I love candles, so this is not taking the place of any candles," Duff says. «And there’s always opportunities to burn candles, but I love that this is always going.»

Beyond the convenience of Below 60°’s flame-free diffuser, it also offers unique scents with uber-playful names designed to perfectly capture the experience of each scent. The names, the development of which Duff was heavily involved in, should evoke feelings, she

When I first heard of the Scandinavian Sleep Method, I initially thought it was a pretty nifty idea—and I could use any upgrade to my sleep routine—so my partner and I decided to give it a try.
Sowing a seed directly into the ground, nurturing it, and reaping the rewards is one of the easiest gardening activities you can do—yet many gardeners don’t. There are many reasons to direct sow. Often, you’ll have earlier harvests because the seeds will germinate when it’s the perfect time to grow, and stronger seedlings because transplant shock isn’t an issue. Planting seeds in general (instead of buying transplants) gives you more varietal options, and you can also save a lot of money (1 packet of 30 to 150 seeds often costs less than a 6-pack of plants). And then there is the personal satisfaction factor. Ask any child who has planted a sunflower seed how they feel when that flower towers over their head, and you’ll understand what I mean.
Peace lily, Spathiphyllum wallisii, is a popular, low-maintenance house plant with glossy, green leaves and white flowers, called spathes. Native to Central America, it’s used to a warm, humid environment and is perfect for growing in a bright bathroom. Peace lilies are easy to grow and relatively trouble-free.
Sleep Week has arrived. Whether you’re on the side of keeping daylight savings or hope to get rid of the clock-adjusting routine, now is the perfect time to take advantage of all the bedding sales as your body adapts to losing an hour. And as someone who needs a minimum of eight hours of sleep (more for proper functioning than beauty), I firmly believe in making investments to create the best sleeping experience one could have.

Being the third largest state of the United States in size, it has diverse climate, this is why this list includes drought tolerant, sun loving, cold hardy, tropical, and temperate trees for the “Golden State.”
Hilary Duff has earned the right to be a little particular, and she’s not apologizing for it. Duff may be a busy mom of three (soon to be four—she announced that she was expecting in December), but she still carves out space to curate an atmosphere that works for her, even if that curation happens once the kids are off to school.
