After getting locked out of my house once, I vowed NEVER AGAIN! So I combined two trendy DIYs- stepping stones and mosaics- and added a secret key hider underneath. Click HERE for the full tutorial...including my secret trick for a fool proof stepping stone!
Creating your own decorative stepping stones is as simple as it gets, starting with an old cake pan from your kitchen or the thrift store.
To make it pretty, I created a mosaic design on clear, adhesive plastic, placed it in the bottom of my cake pan, and began to fill the pan with mixed up quik-crete.
Check out my blog for my secret trick for a perfect mosaic design AND a fool-proof stepping stone.
After the mixed concrete was in the pan, I stuck a child-proof pill bottle upside-down in the wet concrete.
I let it sit for 36 hours before easily removing it from the pan. And just like that, I have a secret place for my house key! And it looks awfully pretty in my yard, too.
And before you ask- don't worry! I'm not actually using THIS exact stone for my house/yard, now that I put it online. I made several different stones- some as gifts and one for us. :)

We had already purchased molds from Lowe`s that made this pattern. We are using this pattern that will come off the back porch and out to our sitting area with burn pit and adding two hammock chairs. We did not want everything to be matched, so we had to figure what kind of pattern we wanted. My hubby is building A bigger shop, that is why everything is in the yard. In the process of cleaning out the old shed we had A lot of empty ice cream buckets and knew someday we would use them for something.
Make natural looking DIY concrete stepping stones or pavers. Color the concrete and mold it into the shape of real fieldstones or flagstones.
Garages are important for providing shelter and protection to your vehicles. The make is very important of the garages as this decides the total space for storage and the capacity for optimal protection. If you have multiple vehicles, you will consider a design that will provide maximum space.

One of the last DIY’s we finished for this outdoor space was adding a gravel patio with solar string lights. Who would have thought that a little rock could make such a difference! I've always wanted pretty string lights and I can't wait to share my new lighted gravel patio plus an awesome robotic Worx lawn mower that automates our yard maintenance! Let's rewind and look at our backyard right after we moved in.
