DIY PVC Pipe Privacy Screen

I've seen several DIY projects for privacy fences, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money or put a ton of effort into this project. Unfortunately, I have a champagne vision with a beer budget, but we were able to complete this project for less than $30 in under two hours. Paul (the hubs), was going to be doing most of the work, and I would be the job foreman. I'm happy to report that we're still married, even after our...«lively» debate about why its unrealistic for me to expect full growth ivy winding it's way through the lattice panels, while we sit in cushy new patio chairs sipping Mojitos listening to the gentle gurgle of a three-tier water feature that he could also build that weekend? Geesh, he's such a killjoy.

These are so much fun to make. Once you get comfortable using your jigsaw and your heat gun, they are so easy too! Who knew you could make these fantastic birds, animals and so much more out of a PVC pipe?!

I absolutely love creating PVC pipe art and this time I went with animals that like to live or play up in the trees: a monkey, koala, sloth and a squirrel.

We have a small side yard we turned into a kids’ play area several years ago when our oldest was a toddler. Now that our children have grown up a little, they needed more than a basic swing set. We came up with our own play set design to fit our space, one part being the monkey bars.

In our backyard I wanted to build a PVC fence that goes from post to post of a patio. Originally, I build the fence out of wood but it only lasted 3 years and then started to rot because of the rain. So I decided to rebuild it using PVC pipe. The PVC pipe should last a lot longer and the price is not much different from the wood fence.

In the area we live in, backyards are very small and are commonly quite close to the neighbors. Even though my yard is enclosed by a fence, I wanted a privacy screen to further separate my backyard space from my neighbor’s house that is very close to mine on the other side. This wood slat screen was the perfect way to add a bit more privacy to my yard, and the contrast of the warm wood with the metal adds a lot of style at the same time. This was a relatively simple and inexpensive DIY project to complete in a weekend to beautify and improve my outdoor living area.

Homeowners pay close attention to how their home looks during the day but many neglect the way it looks after dark. Outdoor and walkway lighting is a wonderful way to increase safety and security around your home but also provides a dramatic boost to your nighttime curb appeal. I wanted to build a table that would compliment my modern, warehouse inspired apartment, so I designed an industrial style table with legs made from steel pipes. It was very easy to construct since the pipes I purchased were threaded on both sides. I just screwed the base and legs together and attached them to the tabletop with a screwdriver. One tool was all it took to make this high-end looking piece, that suits my apartment perfectly. Check out the full DIY and get ready to make your own.

We wanted to add a bit more privacy to our deck, and after thinking about different options, decided that lattice windows would work best. You can customize this look with as much or as little lattice as you want. In our situation, the openness of this design works great. It offers just the right amount of privacy screening, yet we can still enjoy the scenery. Another bonus is you can add some hooks and have plenty of room for hanging plants!
