The Daffodil Jetfire, one of the best Dwarf varieties.
The daffodils here in Aberdeen will soon be in full bloom. If your garden is open to the elements, look out for some of the shorter Daffs in the garden centres next Autumn, or you could probably see pot grown ones in late Winter, more expensive way to do it though..
One particularly sturdy one which will be left standing when many others have been blown over with the wind or flattened with an unexpected snowfall is Jetfire. Very colourful variety and Lots of long lasting blooms in bright golden yellow, with deep orange trumpets. I have grown many Daffodils over the years, of all the dwarf ones which we have grown Jetfire is by far the most striking and dependable of them all. Superb in tubs or in the garden border.
This lovely variety will certainly lift the spirits on dull days early in the year, and it only grows to about 8″ tall. The RHS gave it their prestigious award of garden merit.
Position – Full sun/partial shade

In this article, I’m going to share some tips on timing your daffodil pruning, why it’s important, and how to deal with the foliage as it dies back.
I do usually treat tulips as annuals. However, for next season I have gone through a procedure which will hopefully produce strong flowers in the Spring. This method was explained to me a number of years ago by a gardening friend in Aberdeen. I am doing this with only two of the Tulip forms which were in the garden last Spring
The castle – quite a modest affair as castles go – was the home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, so it was tempting to picture the couple wandering through the carpet of daffodils beneath gnarled apple trees in Anne Boleyn’s Orchard. The truth is that in Tudor times the castle was set in boggy marshland – the orchard and the surrounding gardens are 20th century additions. When American William Waldorf Astor acquired the castle in 1903 he devoted himself to its restoration and to creating a garden that reflected his love of the Tudors and would also be a suitable setting for the classical statuary he had collected when he was Ambassador to Rome. In today’s money, he spent £1billion on the works. The garden we see today retains much of his design, although adapted to be cared for by a
