There's something magical about discovering the perfect thrift store find. It's partially luck, partially strategy, and partially dedication to the hunt.
As we roll into 2024, we wondered: what are the thrifting trends for the new year? What secondhand home decor items should thrifting enthusiasts be nabbing before everyone else does?
To get the inside scoop, we turned to two professional treasure hunters: interior designers Jason Saft and Alex Bass. Read on for their suggestions on what to thrift in 2024.

Thrift stores are one of the best sources for original and compelling pieces of art, Saft says. That's where you can find estate clearouts without the hassle of driving home to home each weekend.
«The randomness is what makes the hunt all the more fun,» he says. «Since art is in the eye of the beholder, a piece that was unloved by one may be cherished by you.»
Saft recommends looking for signed and dated pieces, as well as original works in acrylic or oil that have heavy brush strokes or layers of paint.
«It’s all about the texture for me,» Saft says.

In 2024, Bass is particularly excited about thrift shopping for pretty, practical decor accessories like candlesticks, ashtrays, and vases.
Vintage candlesticks come in so many different shapes, sizes, and looks, says Bass. To create a unique look, Bass recommends buying candlesticks of varying materials and heights.
Ashtrays—which Bass says have become coveted home decor items—are another piece to keep an eye out for in thrift stores. They don't need to be put to work with their intended purpose either. Use them for incense, as a catch-all tray, or simply as a decor element on your coffee table.
You can't go wrong with thrifting

Year after year, we see trends come and go, and the most popular designs and decor of 2023 are no different.
Clutter is a normal pain that almost everyone faces, especially when you’re juggling a busy work schedule, kids, pets, and all other facets of life. But with a new year comes a new opportunity to get your home in order and make a resolution (or two) to keep clutter at bay.

Our largest tit, the great tit has a black head with white cheeks and a green-yellow breast and belly with a black strip running down the centre. In males the strip is a symbol of status and indicates whether or not he will be a good father – the broader the strip, the better the male.
It’s the classic January flex when we start looking forward to the end of winter and the re-awakening of the garden.
As we look toward 2024 together, we're wondering what will be in store for the interior design world. While it’s impossible to predict the future, keeping a keen eye on trends is all part of the job for interior designers and home decor experts.
