Year after year, we see trends come and go, and the most popular designs and decor of 2023 are no different.
Looking back, 2023 home trends gave rise to nature-inspired designs, curved edges in furniture and decor, and monochromatic spaces, all of which many loved—but you might be surprised to know that some designers are ready to leave these and more trends in the rearview mirror.
While we’re expecting some trends to make a comeback in 2024, some can simply stay in the past, and we spoke with a few designers to figure out which ones. Read on for the top home trends designers want to leave in 2023.

Over the years, there’s been no shortage of “-cores,” but according to Kathy Kuo, founder and CEO of Kathy Kuo Home, it might be time to put the phrase to rest.
«I hope to say goodbye to the trend of adding 'core' to the end of every word and phrase under the sun and calling it a design aesthetic,” Kuo says. “It's not very sustainable and it takes a certain element of individuality out of the interior design process.”
Instead, Kuo sees more lasting trends in the future of home design. For 2024, she predicts that moment-centric trends like Barbiecore and strawberrycore will give way to an ethos rooted in timelessness, quality materials, and artisanal design.
