Bright, white kitchens have long been a classic design choice, but a new contender for kitchen trends is entering the scene in 2024. The dark and moody design trend isn’t stopping at powder rooms: we predict that dark-toned kitchens are going to be a hit next year.
We’ve gathered a few tips for getting your kitchen ready to ring in the new year in style.
The main feature of many trendy dark kitchens is their rich color palette. Whether it’s a bold, deep backsplash or a consistent shade from cabinets to walls, choosing one main backing color is a good way to achieve a stylish, moody kitchen.

You don’t have to go straight for an overwhelming black, either. Deeper shades of blue and green are some of the most popular choices for moody rooms, as they create a warm, calming kitchen space.
If you are planning on incorporating dark greys or blacks into your kitchen, you may want to consider adding a small feature element that brightens the space lightly. Think light-colored backsplash, bold faucet fixtures, or light-toned display cabinets. These features can also help prevent a moody kitchen from feeling closed in.
