“Adulting” catches up to you subtly, like getting excited about a good linen napkin or choosing takeout on the couch over a crowded bar. For Victoria Justice, part of embracing her adulthood is reflected by her love of laundry day.
“When I was younger, I didn't ever want to deal with laundry—it just seemed like such a pain,” she tells The Spruce. “But as I've gotten older, I've learned to appreciate doing household chores more. I think they can actually be meditative.”
The 31-year-old singer and actress has an ongoing partnership with Arm & Hammer as they share their latest laundry innovation, Power Sheets, which will have you replacing your pods in an instant (we’ll share more on the greatness of laundry sheets later).
We got a chance to catch up with Justice as she enters a new era of her life and career as an independent artist.
She shares how her cozy home plays a huge role in her happiness, how her idea of “home” has changed over the years, and how her partnership with Arm & Hammer has turned laundry into a chore she no longer despises (and how it can for you, too).
As I've gotten older, I've learned to appreciate doing household chores more. I think they can actually be meditative.
Justice lives by the words, “never take anything for granted,” and this applies to her modern yet cozy home. She described her home as a welcome respite to her busy schedule, and she’s a homebody at heart who just wants every corner of her home filled with joy and comfort.
“I think it's so important to make sure that your home is your sanctuary and a peaceful place for you,” she says. “Creating those spaces in your home, like a really cozy reading nook, is going to bring you joy and make you feel safe.”

Among my favourite gardening quotations is one from the creator of the Larkin family in The Darling Buds of May, H.E. Bates. Mr Bates was a keen gardener and realised all too well the frustrations of our craft as well as the pleasures. ‘Gardening’, he said, ‘is like love. It doesn’t always yield to analysis.’ Times without number I have had cause to believe his wise words. I mean, sometimes – in the words of another sage, Sir Patrick Moore – ‘We just don’t know’. There; having got that off my chest there is little likelihood that I will ever be confused with the Oracle at Delphi. On the other hand, perhaps I can offer a crumb or two of comfort by sharing with you some of the mishaps that I have encountered during my years on the soil. They’ll make you smile if nothing else.

There’s usually time to step in when the green girls are screaming SOS—we’re going to help you build the ultimate houseplant emergency kit to tackle any ailments that come your way. From being ready to pot-up at a moment’s notice to making sure those pesky fungus gnats stay at bay, here are the skills we keep sharp and the tools we’re packing in our at-home horticultural kit.
Wondering what you should be planting, harvesting, and keeping an eye on this growing season? Here’s your summer garden checklist to help you keep on top of garden maintenance.
Summer is here—the perfect time to go outside and enjoy all the work you’ve put into your garden. Unfortunately, summer also comes with plenty of unwelcome guests. There are birds that eat seeds, bugs that leave holes in leaves, and rodents that steal fruits and vegetables.

Cottagecore took hold of the internet for its dreamy, farm-life aesthetic. Romanticized images of frolicking through gardens, growing veggies at home, and baking pies from freshly foraged berries proliferated social media feeds. However, there are some people who go beyond the aesthetic and actually live the lore. Enter: urban homesteading.
