It’s turkey time!
Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday for cooking. Thanksgiving isn’t quite Thanksgiving for me without having the joy of all the food preparation. I like to plan a menu with most of the traditional sides and a few new and more unconventional sides, but of course, the turkey is most important of all!
There is nothing like the satisfaction of taking that aromatic, golden-brown turkey out of the oven and serving moist and flavorful slices of turkey to my family. It is a ceremonious moment! However, there are several steps to follow to achieve a perfectly roasted and delicious turkey. I’ve talked to several people over the years who are quite intimidated by roasting a turkey. It is easy to do as long as you follow these tips:

I admire Cyclamen more and more as the years go by.
This is one of the many books in my collection but the only one to focus on growing big, bigger and biggest vegetables. If you want to grow giant vegetable for exhibition or to get large crops then there are many pointers in ‘How to Grow Giant Vegetables’ by Bernard Lavery and below.

Chionodoxa are beautiful, hardy spring flowering bulbs that are easy to grow. They grow 6inches tall from small bulbs and have pretty star-shaped flowers with long narrow leaves. (Also spelled Chinodoxa and common name Glory of the Snow). The blossom has a central line on each of 6 petals.

Ipomea indica the blue form of Morning Glory is a cool clear blue, a startling colour in the garden. As you would expect from a member of the Convolvulous clan it is a strong twisting and binding climber.
The seeds of Islamic gardens grew from Persian gardens that were created to be oasis in the desert. Islam spread the sphere of influence to India, Turkey, and Spain from the Taj Mahal to Alhambra.
Our transatlantic cousins still benefit from the Pilgrim fathers gardening knowledge taken to their shores centuries ago. The potato famine of 1845-50 caused Irish farmers to discover the Idaho potato. Now these and other horticultural favours can be returned by this book of organic homespun tips.
The Amazons of the summer border, hollyhocks tower on 1.5 to 2.5-metre stems from June to August. Their funnel-shaped blooms, which open in shades of ivory, lemon, pink, red, and plum, can often be seen peeping over a garden wall, basking in the sun. Bumblebees love to sup the nectar, and, as they do, become covered in a dusting of the flowers’ plentiful creamy pollen.
Before cooking your turkey, it is highly recommended to make sure it is completely defrosted.
