Everyone's always looking for ways to level up their Christmas tree decorating game, and social media is a tried-and-true resource for decorating inspiration. Case in point: Recently, Instagram user and home influencer @karleegailbowman (Karlee Gail Bowman) made a video sharing her secret to giving her Christmas tree an extra glow—two different types of lights, layered on one tree. Lucky for us, her method has a stunning final result and isn’t too difficult to complete. Read on for everything you need to know to try it for yourself.
In the how-to video, Bowman shows how she makes her family's Christmas tree bright and dazzling. The key: 2 different types of lights.
Bowman suggests starting with clear, mini-incandescent lights. She intertwines the mini lights deep within the tree on each branch, being sure to not skimp on any of them. She stays away from anything LED, as she says she has yet to find one that doesn't give off a blue tint. To get the full effect of radiance, go heavier on these mini lights than you normally would.
After each branch is heavily covered with mini lights near the trunk of the tree, Bowman then goes in with clear C9 string lights—specifically ones with the clip on each bulb. She wraps these larger lights around the outer edge of the tree, in contrast to the deep placement of the mini ones. After clipping each bulb to an outside branch, you'll see the magic come to life. Your tree will have an inner glow of countless small lights, accentuated by an outer glow of more pronounced lights.
«The variation of the size of the lights gives you so much interest and glow. Once you try this, you will not go back,» Bowman writes in her post.

When purchasing your lights for this
Our front yards can be a huge struggle. Hiring a landscaping team is expensive, and doing it yourself can be difficult and pricey on its own. Plus, once you have the entire front yard to your liking, it might only look great during the day. At night, you have to figure out how to make your front yard match the aesthetics of the day without overpowering the yard with a ton of lights.

When the celebrations are over and decorations have been packed away, it’s time to think about how to reuse your cut Christmas tree, instead of sending it to landfill. From shredding it to make mulch to using it as a frame for climbing plants, there are many ways to put the wood and needles to good use.
There’s a Christmas tree hack working its way through TikTok and promising to make your tree grow healthier and happier but, as is the case with many rumors online, there's not much truth to it.
