The design world has seen no shortage of indulgent, food-related trends lately, from tomatoes to caramel. And just in time to sweeten up the winter season, the latest look is taking over—meet cherry mocha. This rich yet playful color palette has the potential to dominate home decor in 2024, in just about any room of the house.
Cherry mocha first took off as a beauty trend on Pinterest, labeled as the “mani of the moment.” Described as a “deep, saturated burgundy,” the color got a lot of love for its sultry shade. Searches for the term on Pinterest spiked in late September and October, along with those for “cherry brown nails,” “cherry wine nails,” “cherry cola nails,” and “cranberry nails”—the color scheme has caught on. And while it takes some time for style trends to move into to home, the appeal of cherry mocha is on its way to interior design.
«From beauty to home decor, this blend is a favorite for its vibrant and sophisticated looks, as we've seen trending across social media this year,» says Sydney Stanback, the global trends and insights lead at Pinterest. «Bold cherry makes a modern statement while mocha adds a cozy touch. Pinners are turning to Pinterest to discover visually appealing ways to incorporate these colors into their homes.»
And the Pinterest searches don’t lie—the term ”maroon decor” is up 60%, “burgundy complementary colors” is up 35%, and ”maroon bathroom” is up 55% from this time last year. Here’s how to put together a flawless cherry mocha-inspired space that works all year round.
