We’ve been to our fair share of local Manchester parks and gardens, that’s for sure! But which do we recommend?
There are all kinds of amazing parks and gardens for you to explore around the Greater Manchester Area. We even have a few suggestions that are just a hop, skip, and tram away from the city centre! So, without further ado, here are our top recommendations for gardens in Manchester. Mayfield Park Starting off our list is Mayfield Park — one of Manchester's newest inner-city parks. This new development is both child and dog-friendly, and it is a must-visit for all. Located opposite Manchester Piccadilly Train Station, this easy-to-access park gives the city the green space that we've been hoping for. Whether you're looking to go for a stroll, a dog walk, or a day out with the kids, this park has it all! You can read more about Mayfield Park and everything it has to offer in our blog 'Mayfield Park — Manchester's New Green Space'.
Castlefield Viaduct Another new venture for the city centre is the Castlefield Viaduct. This park is small but mighty and has something to see all year round. Foliage, flowers, water features — it has it all. Similar in design to New York's High Line, this suspended sky garden can be found metres away from the Castlefield tram stop. If you're spending the day in Manchester and fancy a quick pit stop to see some history and greenery in one fell swoop, then Castlefield Viaduct should definitely be on your list. Our team went to visit the Viaduct garden last year to show you what it's all about! You can read more about the garden and what to expect in our blog 'Castlefield Viaduct — Manchester's Newest Sky Garden'. Ordsall Hall Another city centre wonder is Ordsall Hall. It's not brand

The winter doldrums are a reality in the Midwest, especially for gardeners, but an immersive plant adventure at your local conservatory is a sure way to lift your spirits. Fortunately, midwestern cities and towns are blessed with many gardens under glass where visitors can experience the warmth and color of the growing season any time of the year. For me, an annual winter trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, just a two-hour drive from my home in southern Wisconsin, is the perfect way to get my plant fix and keep my sanity.
