Mother’s Day has a way of sneaking up each year: Spring hits, and it’s time to start thinking about how best to show appreciation to the mothers in your life (pet moms included!). Maybe it’s through a candle, a good bottle of wine, or just a long chat on the phone—but if you’d like to put a bit more of a custom touch on your gift, all you have to do is scroll through social media to find fun, easy DIYs that show you exactly how to get it done.
Flowers are a classic Mother’s Day gift. But if you want something that lasts longer, try drying them out and framing them like TikTok creator @landonklucas did in a video she posted.
She starts by collecting a few flowers of different sizes and cutting the stem off of them. Then, she lays the flowers face down on a paper towel and puts another paper towel on top (like a little flower sandwich). She puts those paper towels in the microwave and places a heavy, microwave-safe plate on top. After microwaving the flowers for two minutes, she takes them out and lets them cool off, and they're ready to place in a frame.
One commenter claimed that two minutes was a bit too long for her flowers, which ended up burning. You can always microwave your flowers in 30-second intervals to ensure they dry out but don’t brown.
Beyond that, the craft was a success for other commenters, who called it “so pretty and simple.”
If you want to add even more of a flair to the framed flower idea, and make it extra special, consider adding some photos like TikTok creator @debtrette did. She didn’t press the flowers herself, opting to purchase a pressed flower set instead, and used a paintbrush to lightly apply clear glue on the backs of the Polaroid photos and flowers to make sure everything

One of the biggest changes in the Gardening Advice we provide over the last few years is in relation to lawn care. The focus is now on creating lawns with low nitrate fertilisers, monitoring soil pH and using bacterial products to reduce thatch rather than mechanical scarification and in lawns with heavy ware from children etc we are introducing clover to create a greener lawn surface in both the summer and winter
It's that time of year when we're summer dreaming, especially about our summer gardens. Choosing which starters and seeds to invest in can be a bit overwhelming, no matter how seasoned you are at it.
Appliances tend to be the last thing we think about when we’re cleaning our home, but that also means they end up collecting the most dirt, dust, and grime—all as we continue to cook with them.

Towels are a household item that certainly get plenty of use each and every day, and with that, you may be wondering if it's time to replace your set of go-tos.
Pale brick pavers, laid in a herringbone pattern, run from the open-plan ground floor out into the garden, creating a seamless transition between the two spaces.
THE AREA around Philadelphia is well known for its richness of public gardens, including many historic ones. But the region is also home to an impressive roster of distinctive private landscapes from formal 19th century European-style estates to mid-century modern residences and contemporary ones. Now, a new book takes us inside the gates of 21 of them, places filled with ideas for our own gardens maybe, too.
Mother's Day is just around the corner and it's time to show your mom just how much you appreciate her. If gift-giving isn't your strong suit, you're not alone—moms can be really hard to shop for. How can you convey all the love you have for her in a simple gift? Every year I find myself scratching my head at what to get my mother, and I'm constantly in competition with myself and my siblings.
