Home is where the heart is—and where all my favorite decor items are, too. Being a design writer means I take creating a comfortable, stylish home seriously. I’m well aware of the transformative power a cozy-as-can-be throw blanket or brilliant organizational item has.
In case you are in the market for decor that balances fun with functionality, I recently took stock of my favorite home items, ones with my forever stamp of approval. Some are investments, some are steals, and all make my house feel a little homier.
Scroll on for 12 of my must-have home products.
Geometry
My kitchen would be a much drearier (and dirtier) place if it weren’t for my ever-expanding collection of Geometry tea towels. Not only are they wildly absorbent and fast drying, but their cheerful prints make drying dishes not such a drag.
Nab a tulip design for spring, a gingham pattern for a geometric punch, and a veggie-themed one as a friendly reminder to eat your greens. (Psst: their beach and bath towels are worth adding to your cart, too.)
D.S. & Durga
D.S. & Durga are fragrance geniuses. All of their products, from car fresheners to body soap to perfume, with wildly specific scents (like Big Sur After Rain or Portable Fireplace) equally intoxicating. Their candles, though, are a particularly treat yourself moment.
Stock up on their Wild Brooklyn Lavender to encourage winding down, drawing a bath, and cracking open that book you've been meaning to read.
LSA International
Drinking your daily dose of water is all the more fun in a vibrant fluted tumbler from LSA International, one of Europe's leading brands of chicer-than-chic glassware. This set of four (available in jade, garnet, and amber tones) is a must for hosting summer soirees

Within a five-minute walk in any direction (really, pick one) from my apartment, there is a fire department, police precinct, hospital, an event space, a nighttime lounge, and four schools in my area. Needless to say, my street can get very loud at any given time of the day.

If you have a pile of cardboard boxes sitting around your home and aren't quite sure what to do with them, consider reusing them to create home decor accents or a playhouse for your kids or pets. With a sturdy structure thanks to an inner layer of fluted material, a cardboard box can often be useful a second or even a third time.
The first day of spring (March 19) is quickly approaching, and with that comes time for spring cleaning, spring gardening, spring weather, and spring pollinators.

Sowing a seed directly into the ground, nurturing it, and reaping the rewards is one of the easiest gardening activities you can do—yet many gardeners don’t. There are many reasons to direct sow. Often, you’ll have earlier harvests because the seeds will germinate when it’s the perfect time to grow, and stronger seedlings because transplant shock isn’t an issue. Planting seeds in general (instead of buying transplants) gives you more varietal options, and you can also save a lot of money (1 packet of 30 to 150 seeds often costs less than a 6-pack of plants). And then there is the personal satisfaction factor. Ask any child who has planted a sunflower seed how they feel when that flower towers over their head, and you’ll understand what I mean.
Now that we’re firmly planted in March, it feels safe to say it out loud: spring is practically here. Along with bluer skies and brighter days, it also brings the perfect time of year for cleaning and organizing.
