How To Make A Wine Bottle Wind Chime

Wind chimes can be created out of so many things, and when it comes to repurposing thrift stores are not my only go to. There are a lot of items at dollar stores that can be repurposed into fun and creative projects.

Radishes are one of those first treats to come from the spring garden. There is nothing like pulling out a colorful root veggie, giving it a little dust and polish, and biting into it before it has a chance to see the kitchen. I absolutely love outdoor decorations that use wine bottles! Especially blue bottles, but those can be harder to come by. I have colored bottles before using Modge Podge and food coloring for a transparent bottle, or with spray paint for an opaque one, but I wanted something different this time.

I am happy that spring has finally arrived here in New Jersey! I am loving all the daffodils that are blooming in my front yard. I adore the warmer temperatures. I was feeling crafty recently, so I did a quick and easy craft for my backyard – wind chimes!

I love the sound of wind chimes but wow they're rather expensive to purchase! So, I said to my husband, «Let's try to make some homemade wind chimes out of pipes.» Maybe it'll be so easy we'll make a whole yardful of DIY wind chimes!

I love to upcycle old stuff into new stuff and I am always looking for new techniques and tools to recycle unwanted things. So imagine how excited I was to find out that you can fuse small pieces of glass in your microwave! It's not like I really need an excuse to drink more wine but seriously wine, beer and liquor bottles do come in some pretty colors. :-)

One problem I have is seeing a potential project in just about anything and everything--I'm a self proclaimed crafting hoarder and I'm trying to be better about what I keep so as not to drive Rob completely bonkers. Whether we've popped open a bottle for dinner with friends or my many friends keeping theirs for me, I've collected them over the years and have actually gotten rid of a lot of them when trying to purge the basement. However, I still have several and thought I'd finally do something with them.
