For Christopher Griffin, plants are about so much more than just adding a bit of green to your home: they're about self-reflection and helping you connect with nature.
The popular Brooklyn-based plant enthusiast and educator known as Plant Kween partnered with Skillshare in the early days of the pandemic to create an online plant class that anyone can take—and, in fact, over 24,000 people have taken it to date.
«I think a lot of folks are riddled with anxiety when it comes to bringing plants into their homes, and the Skillshare class is breaking that away for folks,» Griffin tells The Spruce. «You're bringing in nature, beautiful things into your home—there's no need to be stressed about that. Just be prepared, be intentional, and don't be afraid to dive deeper into yourself.»
As Griffin has since gone on to write their first book and become an Instagram celebrity, they continue to use their platform to teach their followers about the joys of nature and taking care of houseplants as a way to take care of yourself.
We spoke with Griffin to find out their best tips for summer houseplant care, the plants they think are overrated, and how they really feel about artificial plants.

Typically I encourage folks to do an assessment of their space before they bring plants into their home,
