Also popular as Manchurian lilac, the ‘Miss Kim Lilac’, is a deciduous flowering shrub that offers clusters of lavender-purple, panicle-like flowers during spring. This late-bloomer reaches a short height at maturity and is resistant to powdery mildew.
‘Miss Kim’ variety is treated as a dwarf plant when compared to other lilacs. It is a full-sized shrub that is dense and less leggy than common lilac varieties. This lilac takes three years or more to attain a mature height of six to eight feet tall.
Botanical Name: Syringa pubescens subsp. patula ‘Miss Kim’
You can easily propagate Miss Kim Lilac with young softwood cuttings during late spring or early summer.
For propagation, collect seed pods from dried flower heads on a mature plant. Sow the seeds in a small container filled with a standard potting mix.
Keep the soil moist and place the pots in a bright and warm location. Transplant the plants into large pots once they are big enough to move outdoors. Also, keep in mind that plants grown from seeds will not flower for at least four years.
This slow-growing, small lilac variety can be planted in a 10-12 inches pot. Keep re-potting the plant into a one-size bigger container according to the growth and spread.
Miss Kim Lilac will flower the best when it gets plenty of sunlight. Pick a spot that is sunny for the most part of the day. A minimum of 4-6 hours of sunlight is what this plant needs. The more it gets, the better.
Use well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline soil pH. Add plenty of organic matter like manure and compost, along with a handful of sand.
This shrub prefers average moisture and evenly moist
