It’s nearly spring, and there’s no easier way to celebrate the season than by DIYing some seasonal candles. Though it’s fairly easy to find decorative jar candles or tasteful scented ones, pillar candles are a whole different story. You might get lucky and spot a few cute colors to include in your spring decor, but more often than not, you’ll only end up with plain white candles.
Fortunately, Instagram has a hack that can fix this issue. Best of all, you’ll be able to choose exactly what print you want over each candle you’re decorating. To get started, all you’ll need is a plain-colored pillar candle, a decorative napkin, some wax paper, and an iron.

First, separate the printed side of the napkin from the plain side. You should be able to do this by unfolding the napkin and gently peeling away the top layer of the napkin from the corner.
Take the printed side of the napkin and wrap it face-down around the pillar candle, entirely covering its sides. Smooth it down and wrap it in wax paper; this will prevent the project from turning into a major fire hazard. Leave extra wax paper on both ends of the candle to wrap over the top and bottom to ensure no part of the napkin touches the iron.
To transfer the print to the candle, all you’ll need to do is gently run the iron over the entire candle. Once it’s adhered, you can remove the wax paper and cut off any extra sections of napkin or print that stick around the base of the candle.
