Hebe Autumn Glory

We planted the Hebe Autumn Glory in our front garden four years ago.
Well, the evergreen Hebe with blue/purple flowers performed very poorly in our front garden. I finally removed it in April of this year and was about to chuck it out.
Feeling a little guilty, I decided to pot it up and left it in the courtyard. Wow, it’s like a totally different shrub now.
This is a much loved variety of an evergreen Hebe. Planted in a good position, it will perform well and give interest over a long period, it also does equally well in a tub.
The chunky purple/blue flowers are produced from July and continue well into the Autumn. Dead head to prolong flowering period.(the bees love it) The dark evergreen leaves have a purple margin.
Advice for pruning Hebe differs from one expert to the next. This is the method I will follow.
Immediately after flowering, give the shrub a light trim. Then in early Spring an older plant can be rejuvenated by cutting hard back, make sure you prune just above a healthy leaf.
Grows to a height of about 60 cm/24 inches, spread is about the same
Native to New Zealand, hardy in coastal areas of the UK
Best in full sun, not at all bad in partial shade
