Cozy, welcoming spaces top the list of interior design trend predictions for 2024 as homeowners and designers move away from open floor plans, neutrals, and minimalist decor. Taking its place are moody colors, layering, and using natural and organic materials with comfort at the forefront. With this longing for a relaxed space, it’s no surprise that curves are everywhere, including in newly-married (and pregnant) influencer Sofia Richie-Grainge’s home.

In a recent Instagram post about her adorable dog, Lenny, she gave us a peek at her dining room, where curves are the focal point: from the pale wood table to the wall art to the comfy-looking chairs that look like they were made for long, leisurely dinners.

There’s a psychological reason people are drawn to curves.

“Think about elements found in nature—the organic, flowing lines of a wave, a piece of fruit, a cloud, or a rolling hill, for example. These are rarely square or rectangular," Simone Vingerhoets-Ziesmann, executive vice president of Ligne Roset Americas, told Mansion Global. “The human body is similarly full of curves and void of hard edges, so interacting with soft, rounded lines feels comfortable and natural.”

If curves catch your eye, you don’t need the budget of Richie-Grainge (who rented out the entire Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, for her wedding weekend) to get this look. As curvy details have grown more popular, furnishings with softer looks have become more affordable and accessible.

Introduce curves to your home by starting small—for example, swapping out square throw pillows for round ones or replacing a rectangular entryway mirror with an oval-shaped or trendy blob option.
