Hello, new year, hello, newly organized home. The start of a fresh year is the ideal time to revamp your organizing ways, creating a clutter-free home that feels like you.
Where should you start, though? We asked three professional organizers what organizing trends they see on the 2024 horizon. From what materials to use to areas to declutter to technologies to take advantage of, they were full of practical home organizing advice.

Both Marissa Hagmeyer, co-founder of Neat Method, and Elsa Elbert, founder of Composed Living, agree: there’s a big movement to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly organizing practices in 2024.
Opt for storage solutions that are kinder to Mother Earth, such as glass or bamboo containers, and be mindful of single-use packaging.
“Similar to interior design trends, plastic is taking a back seat in home organization,” Hagmeyer says.
Instead, look for warmer wood, glass, and natural woven materials when selecting a bin, basket, or canister. Those materials not only have a lower impact on the environment but will also elevate the overall feel of your space.
Elbert recommends embracing the upcycling trend with containers you already have in your home. Use old cocktail glasses to hold makeup brushes, or pretty shoebox lids as organizers for really shallow drawers.
