Starting college is a huge undertaking for young adults; many are living on their own for the first time and creating a space they love from scratch. It's a time of self-exploration and figuring out how to best express their personalities in their decor. And who better to help get them started than «Queer Eye»'s interior designer, Bobby Berk?
Lucky for us, Berk has partnered up with Command™ Brand—best known for their non-damaging Command Strips—as their first-ever Director of Dorm Design. To help inspire dorm dwellers to decorate their own spaces, he has created four unique room designs that speak to different decorating personalities: Boho Plant Parent, Retro Music, World Traveler, and Super Glam.
«My personal favorite, of course, is the plant one, because I am a plant daddy myself,» Berk tells The Spruce. «I really love the importance of plants. Not only do plants clean the air, but plants bring life into a room.»

We caught up with Berk to get his best dorm room decorating tips, plus find out what readers can expect from his new book, «Right at Home,» in stores September 2023.
Inevitably, moving into a dorm room probably means sharing your space with a roommate—and that person may not share the same decor style as you. But, Berk has a simple workaround for that.
«Talk to them and make them realize that your design taste is better, and just to let you design the whole room,» Berk jokes.
But in all seriousness, Berk does recommend bringing your new roommate a piece of decor or two disguised as gifts, to help contribute to the cohesiveness of the space. For example, pick up two sets of matching sheet sets. «That way, your rooms match, but it was under the disguise of a gift,» Berk says.

Bamboo is an intriguing plant, which contains over 1,200 species ranging from specimens 6 inches tall, to varieties which can grow upto a foot a day and reach over 130 feet. With the 1,200 species there are varieties which deserve a reputation for being an invasive plant. In the above picture, you can see how the bamboo is spreading away from the wall and is popping up in the middle of the front garden. This particular variety is not too bad, and digging up the rogue runners once a year is sufficient to keep it in check.
There are two great uses for Geraniums that make it worth growing these fine flowering plants. Outdoors they make fantastic border plants and the red varieties are very popular in formal bedding schemes. The second use is as a long flowering houseplant and if you deadhead and feed you plants you will get lots of geraniums from one windowsill plant.
Ipomea indica the blue form of Morning Glory is a cool clear blue, a startling colour in the garden. As you would expect from a member of the Convolvulous clan it is a strong twisting and binding climber.
