Rocket stoves are no rocket science, but there is still a science to how they work. Luckily, they do not require elaborate mechanics, and they surely aren’t dependent on either gas or electricity to cook you a delicious meal and satiate your hunger.
So, what’s a rocket stove exactly and how does it work? A rocket stove works chiefly on wood fuel. Creating a simple exoskeleton for the stove, you insert a piece of wood to burn in the combustion chamber and let the flame and smoke rise through the chimney which is vertical and insulated. This makes the combustion to be complete even before the fire reaches the top cooking area.
Not only are rocket stoves simple in mechanics, but they are also extremely feasible for a traveler’s life, with their usually small size and easy portability. And yes, they are cheap on the pocket too. In fact, you can make them on your own, in a shape, you deem best. Rocket stoves can be created using scrap and recyclable materials. They are also used for heating homes or small spaces. Once you have a decent idea of how to make one, you can build a rocket stove in emergency situations too with no elaborate list of materials required.
To help you with the process, here are some easy-to-make DIY rocket stove plans.

Swing sets are quickly becoming relics of the past, which is quite depressing. There was a time when kids stayed outdoors right from the moment they were done with school for the day until it was pitch dark at the night. From tree forts to play sets, kids loved getting muddy and sweaty in the sun, but that has declined ever since technology took over. So, if you’re looking to change the course of this tide and make your kids proactive, healthy, and in love with the outdoors, then you should definitely make them a personalized swing set.

Hello friends! While we may be quarantining it up right now, that doesn’t mean that Spring isn’t in the air. And that means summer is just around the corner. Here at the Fiddle Leaf House, we spend so many days and evenings out on our patio as the weather gets warmer, so adding some light and ambiance was key! If you can believe it, these wine barrel market light posts were our very FIRST DIY in this home when we moved in 3 years ago! I wasn’t blogging back then, so I didn’t take any photos. But when we replaced our original faux wine barrels for real ones this past summer, I took a few photos of the process for you! I hope you'll visit me on my blog for more fun projects! This is a GREAT quarantine project because you can order materials online and then try out your local hardware stores curbside pickup for the bigger things, like the whiskey barrels, dirt, and plants. Many local nurseries are also doing local delivery right now too. And of course, if you’re reading this after quarantine life is over, then all you have to do is make a quick run to your local hardware store to pick up everything you need!
